Leading placemaking developer, Comer Homes, has agreed terms for a long-term lease, which will secure the future of St. Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School at Royal Brunswick Park, the multi-million-pound mixed use redevelopment of the North London Business Park.
Brian Comer, Co-Founder and Chairman of Comer Homes, said: “This is a major step in the redevelopment of the North London Business Park and in building the foundations of a strong community at Royal Brunswick Park. The final development will be a sprawling mini village, rich in green space, parks and natural enclaves, as well as high-quality homes and community hubs, and the school is a crucial part of what we are striving to deliver.”
Colin Mackinlay, CEO of the Russell Education Trust, said: “The whole school community is delighted that construction of our school can finally commence and we’re looking forward to seeing the building going up over the coming months.”
Stelios Stylianou, DfE Project Director, said: “We are pleased negotiations on lease terms are now agreed and look forward to the site being handed over for the permanent school build, which we are excited to deliver.”
The 45-acre site will be one of London’s largest mixed-use developments and will comprise over 1,600 apartments, contemporary commercial space and community facilities, as well as multiple large public parks and wild habitats to nurture and encourage local wildlife.
Ecological elements of Royal Brunswick Park will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Biodiverse living roof areas – taking the form of stretches of wildflower blanket and biosolar roofs
- Compensatory and enhanced tree planting
- Wildlife friendly landscaping – incorporating plant species of value for wildlife
- Bird and bat boxes
- Sensitive lighting strategy
- Provision of invertebrate enhancement features
- Bee bricks;
- Stag beetle loggeries.
- Wildlife sensitive management
Brian Comer added: “Throughout our over 40-year history we have established a strong reputation of being a reasonable and responsible developer and we are passionate about creating a large-scale development that will transform and enhance the local area. This is the first step in a lifetime commitment from us to deliver on that promise.”
